The American Historical Association, the foremost professional organization for historians in
the United States, contains numerous links to other scholarly societies. After logging on,

interest include the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, the Economic History
Association, and the North American Conference on British Studies.
The Council for European Studies is an interdisciplinary organization that focuses on the
political, historical, economic, sociological and legal aspects of the states of Europe since the
creation of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1952 (a forerunner to the modern
European Union). The Council holds biennial conferences in Chicago.
The European Union Studies Association (EUSA) is basically a carbon copy of the Council for
European Studies. EUSA also hosts a biennial conference, which occurs during years when
the Council for European Studies is not holding its international meeting.
NAASWCH is a multidisciplinary association that strives to advance scholarship on Welsh
studies. NAASWCH holds a biennial conference in North America where scholars from various
disciplines, including history, literature, language and the arts, present and discuss the results
of their research.
The North American Conference on British Studies (NACBS) is a scholarly society that
dedicates itself to investigating all aspects of British civilization. The NACBS website contains
links to the Journal of British Studies as well as information on its annual conference and
various funding opportunities.
The Royal Historical Society was founded in 1868 to defend the scholarly study of the past. This
UK based organization organizes a number of conferences throughout the British Isles during
the course of the year.

The British Enlightenment Research Network (BERN) has been established to foster and
facilitate collaborative links between Australian and international researchers in the field of
British studies during the Enlightenment period. The Network aims to develop the research
